As a high school and Division I student-athlete, Matt valued the combined benefits of education and athletics. Through high school and college scholarship opportunities, the Matt Golczewski Memorial Fund is committed to helping future generations of local student-athletes realize their potential on and off the field.

Cancer Research
In 2019, Matt was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of stomach cancer and received treatment from top nurses and doctors in the Johns Hopkins Health System. Despite advancements in the health & science fields, cancer research still needs further support to ensure safe and effective treatment for future generations.
Mental Health
One out of every five Americans is adversely affected by mental health conditions, and Matt was no exception. Although the stigma of mental health disease is gradually fading, there remains an obvious distinction in the perceptions of mental illnesses and physical illnesses like cancer. Much work is still needed to erase mental health stigma and to develop safe and effective treatment strategies for affected populations.
